The caravan transforms a region of wilderness into landscape whether it is urban or pastoral. It provides a mark of civilisation and passes a comment on our relationship with the environment; it can also represent nostalgia for holidays or weekends away from the urban environment.

In my paintings the caravan works on a melancholic level; although it becomes the depiction of a metaphor for my sense of loss it allows the spectator to register their own feelings and provide their own interpretation.
